Newington College, Stanmore

Newington Early Learning Centre provides early childhood education for 3- and 4-year-old boys and girls.

The beautiful, purpose-built centre was designed with early childhood learning experts and incorporates educational indoor play areas, quiet zones and outdoor spaces.

The new ELC building is situated next to Newington’s Junior Campus located in Stanmore. The building comprises a basement carpark, a first floor with three new early learning rooms and attached bathrooms, a common piazza area, food preparation area and back of house staff rooms and kitchen.

RHCS was contracted to provide comfortable underfloor hydronic heating to the three large multipurpose learning areas covering 500m2 of floorspace. Each zone is independently temperature controlled and heated by a high efficiency Bosch condensing natural gas boiler.

Underfloor heating is the most energy efficient and safe form of heating for public areas and ideal for schools and childhood learning centres.

Macquarie University

Radiant heating and Cooling Solutions are working with Buildcorp Interiors in the installation of our commercial grade underfloor heating system to serve a new 850m2 atrium, café and student space at the Facility of Science and Engineering, Macquarie University.

Property and the Faculty of Science and Engineering are working on an exciting new project to transform E7A - 12 Wally's Walk, the Mitchell building, to support academic pursuits and progress the University's goal of creating a vibrant and sustainable campus

Property is maximising the benefits of the E7A - 12 Wally's Walk renewal project to extend the building envelope to incorporate a rooftop space, a contemporary entry and atrium linking E7A (12 Wally's Walk) and E7B (14 Sir Christopher Ondaatje Avenue). The atrium extension will enhance amenity of both E7A (12 Wally's Walk) and E7B (14 Sir Christopher Ondaatje Ave) through creating a reinvigorated precinct.

Hydronic floor heating is a particularly effective method of heating large floor areas with elevated ceiling heights, and as it is both invisible and quiet, and can suit buildings where aesthetics and noise are an issue. Mean radiant temperature is the single most important parameter in human thermal comfort. It has the strongest influence on comfort indexes such as Predicted Mean Vote ("PMV") or Physiological Equivalent Temperature ("PET"). Air temperatures matter less.  Thus heating and cooling systems that address radiant temperatures directly can be more efficient than those that heat or cool air. Along with 77 Pacific Hwy North Sydney, this is another example of the use of affordable underfloor hydronic heating to heat large spaces in commercial buildings.

The system includes modular plastic bars fixing clips to hold the heating pipes. The pipes are made from High-density cross-linked polyethylene with anti-oxygen barrier. The system is served by a high efficiency Bosch commercial GB condensing boiler.

The pipework is connected to a preassembled manifold kit for distribution and regulation control. It includes a closing bypass for primary circuit, a 3-way mixing valve and a thermostatic head an variable speed electronic circulation pump.

The project is due to be commissioned and handed over for occupation in Semester 1 2017.

Scotch Oakburn College is located in Launceston; a boutique riverside city situated at the head of the picturesque Tamar Valley and boasts magnificent natural attractions including the spectacular Cataract Gorge Reserve and beautiful parks and gardens.

Scotch Oakburn College is an independent private school in Launceston and in January of 2016 construction began of their new $11M Science and Mathematics Centre of Innovation.

Stage one includes new laboratories and learning spaces which will be ready for 2017 classes.
Stage two includes the refreshment of the St Andrews old laboratories which will be revamped as 21st century learning spaces.

With substantial green credentials that target a 5 Star Green Star v3 (Office Design and Office As Built rating) and 5 Star NABERS Energy rating. Included is a number of environmentally sustainable features that have been incorporated into the building design including radiant heating, low-temperature air conditioning systems for reduced energy consumption, rainwater harvesting and performance glass facades.

North Sydney is located just 3km north of the Sydney CBD and represents the second largest concentration of office buildings in NSW. 177 Pacific Highway enjoys a prominent location and can be easily accessed via car, train and bus. The newly upgraded North Sydney rail and bus interchange is located within approximately 400m.

The ground levels provide a vibrant town square atmosphere, comprising a spectacular entry height of more than 13 metres, public garden plaza featuring café and retail areas. The building is also surrounded by an array of retail and service amenity including Northpoint retail centre, Greenwood Plaza, gyms and childcare centres ensuring a vibrant working environment for staff and visitors.

Radiant Heating and Cooling Solutions was commissioned to provide commercial grade underfloor heating in the foyer  and garden plaza of the building; utilising Bosch condensing boilers, 20mm industrial high density PE-Xc pipe with the 'modulbarra' inslab type installation. This system is recommended for heating of commercial and industrial premises where it is necessary to optimise screed compressive strength.

Architects, designers and building owners should consider radiant floor heating in all areas with extended ceiling heights. Atriums, lobbys, foyers, in fact all large public spaces benefit from hydronic heating that provides very long service life, minimal maintenance and massive energy savings over the life of the building.

Vertical Farm System

Our project for Vertical Farm Systems demonstrated the diverse potential of underfloor heating and cooling systems. Conditioning the growing spaces require exact and close control of the temperature. They wanted help with an environment that could be controlled to support the commerciality of their business and for thousands of farmers all over the world.
