Newhaven, Victoria

Project 16117 – New double storey Australian Colonial style beachside residence.

Located in a prime waterfront location on Philip Island with expansive views across Western Port Bay in Victoria. This 7.4 star energy rated home is designed to make use of a high efficiency building envelope and rooftop solar power to ensure comfortable living with minimal long term heating costs.

RHCS worked with local licensed installers, Wonthaggi Heating and Cooling to provide comfortable hydronic heating to the two levels of home covering almost 500m2 of floorspace. The ground and first floors feature a number of hydronic radiators providing efficient heating in Winter. During summer the system provides ducted cooling through two fan coil units allowing zone control to each level.

The energy consultant, Wayne Lording, recommend Solar Rooftop Power to offset operating costs of the heat pump, and Apricus Solar hot water to complete a very energy efficient package.

Mullumbimby Creek, NSW

Large Rural Low Energy Pavilion Style Residence.

2 level Pavilion style residence in pristine NSW North Coast Hilltop location. 473 m2 total occupied space with low carbon footprint. Embedded floor heating and cooling serving large open spaces with lofted ceilings. 10kW Solar Energy panels offset up to 100% of heating and cooling operating costs. This is an example of a quality home that pairs a solar energy system with underfloor heating and cooling. This choice allowed for a solar energy system up to 50% less in capacity than required for conventional air conditioning. Energy management software indicates that there is no need for external supply power for the heating and cooling system on most days of the year.

Byron Bay, NSW

Byron Bay Hinterland Pavilion style family home with lofted ceilings, open spaces and polished concrete floors. Low carbon footprint, passive solar design. Well know local prestige home builder, Tim Sharpe and his family wanted to demonstrate the energy saving potential of floor radiant heating and cooling systems in their new home for potential customers. The high efficiency heat pump catches waste heat and delivers it to the pool while Solar PV energy is contributing 100% of the energy on most days of the year. Ausclimate have also supplied a large capacity Supreme All Seasons dehumidifier to demonstrate that indoor comfort is as much a matter of humidity control as temperature.
