Creating a safe and comfortable environment not only improves the effective and profitable operation of an aged care facility, it is also critical for safety and health. Mt Esk Aged Care (a 73-bed facility) is Tasmania’s biggest provider of aged care. Their requirement was for a clean and safe heating option to keep their residents comfortable.
Our design approach
Was to provide a heating and cooling solution that provided maximum comfort. Eliminating wall mounted radiators was a safety priority both as a hot surface and physical obstacle. We specified a dual circuit simultaneous heating and cooling 4 pipe system due to the size of the facility.
Heating and Cooling
For heating and cooling sources we selected two high efficiency air to water chillers with heat recovery facility. 1200 x 2400 plasterboard and Quadrotto 1200 x 600 panels with polystyrene insulation provided the heat transfer surface for cooling. Pre-insulated underfloor heating pipes completed the installation with VSD pumps driving the heating medium around the installation.
